  • Crusaders' season ends after loss to Mulvane

  • Wellington got off to a quick start with three quick buckets followed by foul shots to take a 9-6 lead early in the first quarter.
    Trevor Nance, who finished with 16 points, had six quick points and Colin Reichenberger had three. Payton baker also had a three-point play but his came on a shot from behind the arc to keep the Crusaders ahead early.
    But Mulvane came back to score eight straight points to take a 14-9 lead. The Crusaders cut the lead to 16-15 after the first quarter but the Wildcats pushed that lead to 33-26 at th half thanks to foul trouble for Nance who picked up his second foul with 6:40 to go in the second.
    After the intermission, it was all down hill for Wellington. They soon trailed 41-31 and then 47-33 before Mulvane finished the third quarter up by 17 at 54-37.
    Nothing went right in the fourth quarter and the Wildcats ended Wellington's season with a 67-46 finish.
    Austin Dunn scored eight points in the loss, as did Baker. Connor Phelps added seven and Reichenberger scored 5. Wesley Gilmore finished the scoring with two.
    Wellington finishes the year with a 9-11 record.
