    Martha Jane “Janie” Wilson, age 89, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Wednesday morning, March 26, 2014 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, KS. She was a homemaker and had been a resident of Wellington since 1946.

    Martha Jane “Janie” Wilson, age 89, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Wednesday morning, March 26, 2014 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, KS.  She was a homemaker and had been a resident of Wellington since 1946.
     
    Martha Jane (Bartelson) Wilson was born on December 5, 1924 in Webb City, OK to Oscar Bert Bartelson and Mabel Katherine (Check) Bartelson.  She grew up in the Arkansas City, KS area and was a 1942 graduate of Arkansas City High School.
     
    Janie married Lyman A. “Tuffy” Wilson on March 10, 1946 in Arkansas City, KS.  They had celebrated 62 years of marriage before Tuffy passed away in March of 2008.
     
    Through the years Janie was a dedicated member of Calvary Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, served as secretary for the Dorcas Society, was an altar guild member, and sang in the choir.  She also volunteered for many years with the Meals on Wheels Program through our local hospital and in the kitchen for the Red Cross Blood Mobile when it was in Wellington.
     
    She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, reading, music, and attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events through the years.  She was an avid fan of the WHS Crusaders, K-State Football, and KU Basketball.
     
    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tuffy; two brothers, John Bartelson and O. L. “Swede” Bartelson; and one sister, Ann Quirk.
     
    Survivors include her three children, Ray Wilson and his wife, Janet of Fayetteville, AR, Paula Oldridge of Wellington, KS, and John Wilson and his wife, Marcia of Olathe, KS; seven grandchildren, Lynne (Kevin) Lawrence, Derek (Kiersten) Wilson, Rob (Liz) Wilson, Scott Wilson, Craig (Sarah) Hamburg, Jeff (Paige) Wilson, and Jenna (M.G.) Casey; five great grandchildren, Brecken and Jace Lawrence, Katie and Annie Wilson, and Max Hamburg; brother-in-law, Robert Wilson of Denver, CO; sisters-in-law, Claudine Bartelson of Wellington, KS and Wanda (Laurin) Sundquist of Blackhawk, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
     
    Funeral Services will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11:00 A.M.  Reverend Rick Hathaway will officiate.  Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens.
     
    Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
     
    A memorial has been established with Calvary Lutheran Church.  Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
