  • Crusaders crush Mulvane in two games

  • The Wellington baseball team extended its record to 5-1 by sweeping two games at Mulvane Thursday. Wellington won the first game 16-3 and the second one 14-3, with both games going five innings.

    In the first game Wellington got five runs in the first inning, and added three in the second and six more in the third.
    The Crusaders had 15 its. Andrew Horn was 3-for-3 with a double, two rbi and three runs scored.
    Austin Dunn, Connor Phelps and Houston Sober were all 3-for-4. Dunn had a double and two runs scored. Sober had two rbi and one run scored. Phelps had one rbi and one run scored.
    Travor Nance had a double with one rbi and three runs scored. Jalen Macias and Ben Dejarnett added singles with an rbi.
    Jerrod Huck was the winning pitcher. He went five innings, giving up five hits and striking out three and no walks.
    Wellington 16, Mulvane 3
    Wellington scored seven runs in the top of the fifth to put this one away, after leading 6-0 after two innings.
    Six of the Crusaders 11 hits were doubles and Adam Condit added a triple. Dunn had two doubles. Others with doubles were Horn, Parker Daughtery, Macias and Phelps.
    Dunn was 3-for-4 with three rbi. Phelps had two hits and one rbi. 
    Condit had four rbi. He was walked three times.
    Connor Burden and Wesley Gilmore also had hits.
    Macias was the winning pitcher. He went five innings, gave up two hits and struck out three, with no walks.
