  • The Wellington High School softball team split games at Mulvane Thursday.
    Wellington won the first game 2-0 and lost the second one 8-7.
    In the first game Ryleigh Buck had a two-rbi triple in the third inning,  and that was all the scoring. Wellington's only other hit came from Carlie McComb.
    Jady Dry pitched a complete game, giving up six hits, walking one and  striking out four.
    The second game was more a slugfest, with Wellington getting 16 hits, to 14 for Mulvane. Wellington led 5-2 after two innings, but Mulvane took the lead, 7-6 with four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Wellington tied the game in its half of the fifth, and Mulvane got the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
    Dry pitched two innings and Peyton Adams pitched four.
    McKenna Oathout had three hits for Wellington. P. Adams, Buck, McComb and Erin Goodrum each had two hits. McComb had a double. M. Adams had one hit with three rbi.
    Wellington is now 2-4 on the season.
