  • The National Weather Service in Wichita has advised that severe weather potential will be a concern on Saturday for Sumner County.
As warm, moist air moves northward out of Oklahoma, we could see significant storm cells popping up throughout our county. Large hail (baseball sized) and damaging winds (up to 70 mph) are the main concerns with this storm system…however, tornadoes cannot be ruled out as the evening progresses.
It is expected that storms will travel from southwest to northeast in the 30 – 40 mph range.
Emergency Management Coordinator for Sumner County, James Fair suggested keeping an eye on the weather Saturday, and be close to a TV or radio to receive current up-to-date weather information throughout the afternoon and evening hours.
