  • Wellington City Manager Gus Collins has accepted the position of Director of Gas and Waste Water for the City of Winfield, to start August 4. He recently resigned as Wellington's City Manager.
The Wellington City Council decided to retain Gus Collins to help facilitate the search for a new city manager. Collins has been city manager in Wellington for eight years and last week announced his resignation.
Collins will work as city manager until May 30, and City Clerk Shane Shields will be the interim city manager from that point until a new one is hired.
When Collins announced his resignation, he did not say what he was going to be doing, but since then the city has scheduled a retirement reception for May 29.
The city will accept applications through June and they hope to have someone in place by the end of July.
Collins will also help with the budget which is done through the summer each year.
The city had a meeting scheduled for Tuesday. They planned to talk about water preservation ideas, as well as other issues.
