  • A call for reader input

  • As journalists, we think we know what people want to see in the newspaper, or even online for that matter. But as our conservative friends tell us, people at the local level know more about what they want and need than people at the national level.

  • As journalists, we think we know what people want to see in the newspaper, or even online for that matter. But as our conservative friends tell us, people at the local level know more about what they want and need than people at the national level. I think that is true for us as well. Readers do know more about what should be in their paper than those of us who are supposed to know because we put out a newspaper.
So with that in mind, I would like to ask for your input. Tell us what you want to see, or read about.
If it comes down to choosing, would you rather read about a school board meeting or a baseball game?
I would also be interested in knowing whether readers would prefer more junior-varsity and middle school coverage, as opposed to coverage of other towns in the county.
We can’t get to everything obviously, but when we have to decide, it would be good to have more of an idea of what our readers want.

We are also looking for some community bloggers. This is for the website, and it is a place for local people to write about what interests them most. We are looking for people who have a passion, and want to tell the world about that passion.
It’s fairly easy to post things on the website and there are very few limits. You would need to pick a topic and stick to that topic most of the time, and post about twice a week. If you are interested let me know and we can set the wheels in motion.
Send a note to my email if you want to comment on either of the above items. The email address is  jjordan@wellingtondailynews.com.

As we near the end of the school year, there is a mad dash of activity that could make the most organized person’s head swim.
I am sure we will miss a lot of things, so send us your pictures and information about things coming up or going on.

Last weekend there were a lot of things going on, and some interesting choices to make.
I went to the Youth Hunter Ed Challenge event near Belle Plaine. That is where young people were shooting and learning about hunter safety, and it was made fun by making it a competition.
This is a program created by the National Rifle Association. This is what the NRA has historically been about, and it is what the NRA should be.

The high school sports seasons are drawing to a close, and the track season is one the Crusaders may remember for awhile.
Page 2 of 2 - Several Wellington girls have times that are among the best in the state, and a couple members of the boys team do as well.
Playoffs, as well as regional and state track, are not far away. We will get to as much of that as we can, but we also appreciate help from readers as far as information and photos.
