Governor's Scholars Awards program includes two students from Wellington

Holly Mae Wright, a senior at Wellington High School, attended the 31t Annual Governor’s Scholars Awards program on May 4 in Topeka.  The ceremony honors the top one percent of Kansas high school seniors. She is the daughter of Brian and Glenda Wright. “These high school seniors have shown dedication in their studies and a  commitment to learning,” Gov. Sam Brownback said.“

Ben DeJarnett, also of Wellington High School, also received the honor. Other Sumner County students included James Matthew Shepherd of Belle Plaine, Rachel Arnold of Caldwell, Heather Ann Koester of Conway Springs, Thomas Lewis of Oxford, Elijah J. Rebold of South Haven and Cori Drouhard of Argonia.
