Donald Earl Anderson, 86, of Wellington, Kansas, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Via-Christi Saint Francis. Donald was born in Clay Center, KS on September 28, 1927, the fourth eldest child of 9 children to Herbert Martin and Berta Belle (Hundley) Anderson. Donald attended Clay Center, KS schools, and enlisted in the US Navy in 1944 and served 3 years. Donald was a farmer and worked in the aircraft industry for 50 years after being honorably discharged. He retired from Cessna Aircraft in 1991. Donald was an avid participant at car shows with his antique car. He also enjoyed repairing small engines, lawnmowers, weedeaters and chainsaws. Donald spent time boating, camping and fishing in his younger years. He also loved spending time with family and friends and playing Bingo at the VFW and American Legion. Donald married his sweetheart, Joyce Arlyn Edwards on September 1, 1949 in Marysville, KS, and together they raised 4 children and 4 foster children. Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce (Edwards) Anderson of 64 years, and their beloved children, Martin Ray (Debra) Anderson of Haysville, KS; Jessica Dawn (Michael) Anderson of Wellington, KS; Davin Jay (Amy) Anderson of Wellington, KS, son-in-law Anthony R. Goff of Wellington, KS; and foster children Roxann (Andy) Peterson of Loganville, GA; Ray Baldwin of Winfield, KS; Rosetta (Brett) Wiley of Wichita, KS; and Rickey Baldwin of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Cassandra Goff, Aimee (Bob) Reeves, Ryan (Ursula) Goff, Chris Williams, Grant (Sara) Williams, Cody Anderson, Macy Anderson and fiancé Nick Norris, Levi Anderson, Riley and Emiley Anderson, Andrea Peterson, Zonya (Josh) Wilson, Marsh (Marissa) Peterson, Joshua (Marci) Rusk, Justin (Alysha) Rusk, Corey and Logan Wiley, Keith Baldwin, Amanda (Derrick) Sutton; and numerous great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother Dan Anderson of Sabetha, KS; sister Gladys VanAmburg of Derby, KS, and several nieces and nephews, family and friends. Donald is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Howard, Martin, Francis “Bob” and Warren Anderson; sisters Iola Pendergrass, baby Barbara Anderson, Charlotte Phipps; and daughter Mary Catherine Goff. Memorial services for Donald will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2014 in the First Free Will Baptist Church, 1219 North Plum, Wellington, KS. Interment will follow later that day in Resthaven Cemetery in Wichita, KS.
