  • Obituary: Ronald O. Woodbridge

  • Ronald O. Woodbridge, 77, of Wellington, Kansas, died Monday, June 9, 2014. Ron was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma, the eldest child of Philip and Muriel Woodbridge. Ron’s family moved back to Kansas when he was a child, and he graduated from Wellington High School in 1955. He attended Wichita University (now WSU) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in speech therapy from the Institute of Logopedics (now Heartspring). 
    Ron married his high school sweetheart, Loretta Haines, December 19, 1955, and together they had six children. Ron and Loretta moved to eastern Kansas in 1959, where they managed the Double L Ranch. In 1967 the family moved back to Wellington, and Ron became property manager for Stewart Farms in addition to having his own farming operation and a small herd of cattle. He retired in 2004.
    Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerry Woodbridge; sister, Diane Denney; daughter, Kathy Schellenger; and son-in-law, Curt Schellenger. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Loretta, and by their children, Kristy (Kent) Foraker, of Rose Hill, Kansas; Don (Nancy) Woodbridge, of Austin, Texas; Karen (Dave) Fergen, of Wellington; Tom (Susan) Woodbridge, of Wellington; and Ronda (David) Garden, of Goddard, Kansas. He is survived by 15 grandchildren: Kyle Foraker, Kara Foraker, Kiehn Foraker, Teresa (Tony) Mastracchio, Danielle (Danny) Hesser, Chad (Jenny Glonek) Schellenger, Daryl (Christina Le) Schellenger, Jessica Fergen, Melissa (Vince) Winner, Bethany (Jason) Bryan, Maverick (Kim) Woodbridge, Dylan Woodbridge, Logan Woodbridge, Grant Garden, Janelle Garden; and 8 great-grandchildren: Kimana, Marley, and Aviel Hesser, Alysse and Samuel Mastracchio, Vanessa and Reid Bryan, and Claire Winner. Ron is also survived by his sister Elaine (Mark) Seglem, and many other family members and friends whom he held very dear. 
    A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, July 13, 2014, 1:00-5:00 p.m., at Raymond Frye Complex, 320 N. Jefferson Ave., Wellington, Kansas.
