Obituary: Vera Pauline (Miller) Wolf, 94, of Virginia Beach, Virginia

Vera Pauline (Miller) Wolf, of Virginia Beach, Virginia (formerly of Wellington, Kansas), died Thursday morning, June 26, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Virginia Beach, Virginia at the age of 94.

Vera was born the daughter of Carson Lee and Grace J. (Richmond) Miller on Saturday, February 14, 1920 at the family home southwest of South Haven, Kansas. Having graduated from South Haven High School, she was proud to be a SHHS Alumni. Vera was very active in the community and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Her daughters, grandchildren & great grandchildren were the center of her life. A woman of many interests, Vera loved flowers and took great pleasure in her gardens. She was interested in antiques and was a collector of historical antique glassware and furniture. Among her many talents, Vera was especially gifted at needlework and created many pieces over the years.

On February 2, 1941, Vera and Herman Wolf were united in marriage in South Haven, Kansas. They started life together as farmers who worked as a team with a shared belief in land preservation. Together they celebrated over 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2003. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by parents, brothers: Carson Lee, Harry Eugene and Truman Woodrow, sisters: Vivian Grace and Verna May, Great Granddaughters Mary Louise and Elizabeth Ann Orozco.

Survivors include her daughters: Donna Haggard and her husband Dennis of Stoddard, Wisconsin, Deborah Miller and her husband Dr. Jacob Miller, Jr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Dena Orozco and her husband Joseph of Wichita, Kansas, brothers: Jay Oliver Miller of Huntsville, Arkansas, Ralph Miller and his wife Dee of South Haven, Kansas, grandchildren: Heather Haggard and her wife Renae Kowitz of Eugene, Oregon, Travis Haggard & his wife Susan of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Teneille Haggard & her husband James Thoms of Brooklyn New York, Rachel (Miller) Tran & her husband Jon of Seattle, Washington, Lydia (Orozco) Schneider and her husband Dustin of Wichita, Kansas and Maria (Orozco) Trimmel & her husband Jack of Wichita, Kansas along with nine great-grandchildren,  Riley Haggard, James & Edith Thoms, Wheeler & Fin Tran, Cecilia, Alisia & Miranda Schneider and Iris Trimmel.

A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2014 with the family present from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Private family services will be held at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her loving memory with KETCH, 1006 E Waterman St, Wichita, Kansas 67211. Donations may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
