O. Irene Naasz, age 94, passed away Tuesday morning, July 29, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Wellington, KS. She was a retired R.N., farmer, and business manager for Naasz Trucking.
O. Irene (Wohlschlegel) Naasz was born on February 15, 1920 in Harper, KS to Benjamin Wohlschlegel and Mary Evelyn (Hooper) Wohlschlegel. She was a 1938 graduate of Manning High School in Scott County, KS and a 1941 graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in Wichita, KS.
Irene married Elmer J. Naasz on October 2, 1943 in Phoenix City, AL.
She enjoyed caring for others, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Dean Naasz in 1964; sisters, Mary Jane Wohlschlegel, Joy Clements and her husband Eldon, Edith Reida and her husband Gale, and Wm. D. Wohlschlegel; and niece, Cherle Wohlschlegel.
Survivors include her loving husband of 70 years, Elmer of Wellington; daughter, Linda Fuller of Wichita; grandchildren, Curtiss Crossman and his wife Wendy of Wichita, and Cara Mader and her husband Bobby of Mulvane; brothers, Robert Wohlschlegel and his wife Joann and Dale Wohlschlegel and his wife Jody both of Harper; sisters, Alice Branine and her husband Dean of Holabird, SD and Nancy Mortimer and her husband Norman of Harper; grandchildren, Ian, Avery and Evan Crossman and Geoff, Ryan, and Erin Houston, Allysa and Abi Allton, and Caleb Mader; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at Calvary Lutheran Church on August 2, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. Reverend William Wingfield will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with Calvary Lutheran Church and Honor Flight, Inc. Contributions can be left at the funeral home.
