  • More weather we're not going to get

  • All this probably has everyone wondering what weather we’re “not” going to get next

  • So…. the system that was supposed to only produce intermittent showers and minimal accumulations dropped as much as 1-2 inches of rain in parts of the region. And the storms that were forecasted to possibly become strong but not severe ended up prompting two severe thunderstorm warnings in Butler County alone, keeping utility companies and fire crews busy throughout the night as hot lightning, 60-70 mph straight line winds and microbursts pummeled innocent trees and power lines.
All this probably has everyone wondering what weather we’re “not” going to get next! Daily rain chances continue to exist in the forecast through Saturday, though today’s activity may not arrive until late into the night or very early tomorrow morning. Storms are expected to fire up in western/northwestern Kansas sometime today and start trekking to the east.  Once again, these storms “shouldn’t” become severe, though they could produce strong winds, small hail….and this time they are admitting to potentially heavy rainfall rates.   The most likely track puts this system in central Kansas during the overnight hours, with better chances for rain in our part of the state on Friday.
Oh, and as we wait for our next round of not-severe weather to arrive, it is also not going to be cool. Hot and muggy will be the recipe for today, with heat indices creeping up into the upper 90s by mid-afternoon.
