The field has been set for the fourth annual ‘Shoot the Chip’ cow chip throwing contest sponsored by the Wellington Daily News.
The first chip is scheduled to fly at 6 p.m. in the 100 block of West Harvey, right in front of the newspaper office.
In all, 18 well-trained teams will toss shards of cow poo in an attempt to claim this year’s championship.
The Poo Poo Princesses are back to defend their 2007 title. Spectators no doubt remember the winning money shot at the buzzer.
The competitive field also features former champions, The Poop Slingers.
Two University of Kansas alumni features two teams in this year’s event — the Rock Chalk Chuckers and the Rock Chalk Chucker Champs — both aiming for porcelin glory.
Several new teams have enter the contest that at times can have an unpleasant order among the chunks of happiness.
The Crap Dealers, representing Trailhead Casino Resort are one of the rookie teams this year.
