Overpowering is the best way to describe the Lady Crusaders' performance, against the Clearwater Indians, in the early goings of Friday's game. Wellington would end up winning the game by 16 points.

Out of the gates, an early 6 point lead grew to a 14-0 first quarter for Wellington. In the first half, it would only get worse for Clearwater.

The Lady Indians narrowly escaped being shut-out through the first two quarters, but managed to get a bucket late in the second. Wellington was up 26-2 at halftime.

"I thought our intensity was really good," said Head Coach, Kevin Hackerott.  "We shot the ball well, we rebounded the ball; every loose ball, we got to it first." The coach said the halftime message was to focus on duplicating the first have performance, which he noted would be a challenge.

Clearwater did get a sliver of momentum back heading into the fourth quarter, it was 35-15 in favor of Wellington, but the Lady Crusaders kept their foot on the pedal and got the victory on their home court.

A lot of younger players got some quality minutes on the court when the Lady Crusaders had a comfortable lead. Hackerott said that was very important for those players, and the team moving forward.

"It's hard to mimic game stuff in practice, as much as you try to," he said. "To get out here and the lights are shining, and there's people...it's invaluable." Wellington won 46-30 on Friday, and the girls are 7-2 on the season after the game against Clearwater.

"We played like we were capable," Hackerott said.
