Two Wellington Middle School students were unharmed in an injury crash this afternoon on US 160 and Anson Road.
According to Sumner County Sheriff's Deputy Tyler Lewellen a Durham School Services bus carrying students from the Wellington school district was traveling northbound on Anson Road when it came to a complete stop at a stop sign on US 160. A semi-truck traveling eastbound on US 160 overlapped a Silver Chevy Impala traveling westbound on US 160 from the bus driver's view. After the bus driver, Cami Schmidt, 34, of Belle Plaine pulled out to go across the highway, she spotted the Impala too late, colliding with the vehicle and sending both into a north ditch.
Brenda Kline, 60, of Milan and the driver of the Impala sustained injuries to her right hand and foot, but refused medical treatment at the scene.
No one on the bus was injured including 12 year-old Jason Hess and his sister 13 year-old Tiffany Hess of Wellington.
"All I heard was screaming and I peaked over [the seat] and we were going down the hill," said Jason Hess.
