The Wellington girls basketball team will be playing Rose Hill in the second round of sub-state at Maize South Thursday at 6 p.m.
Wellington qualified for the second round after beating Wichita Trinity 60-43 in the first round of the tournament held at WHS gymnasium Monday.
Rose Hill defeated Maize South 51-23 in the other game.
The Wellington-Rose Hill winner will play the winner of Circle-Mulvane. Circle won by beating Augusta 62-32 in first round action. Mulvane eliminated El Dorado 47-46 in the other first round game.
On the boys side, Wellington and Circle get after it tonight at 7 p.m. in Towanda. The winner will play Wichita Trinity/Mulvane winner.
In other sub-state pairings, Conway Springs defeated Garden Plain boys to advance to the second round to play Wichita Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
The Oxford girls were eliminated from sub-state play losing to Inman.
