After several days of searching, local law enforcement officials have moved their search for a Winfield man into Oklahoma.
On Monday, law enforcement officials from Sumner, Cowley, and Grant County, Okla., were searching an area just south of Sumner County in Grant County for 87 year-old Jack Lee Howe.
Winfield police say Howe went missing Friday. His truck was later found by authorities just over the state line on Monday.
A navy blue sweater owned by Howe was also found there earlier, Monday.
Howe is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 100 pounds and was last seen wearing a red flannel shirt and blue jeans.
Sumner County Sheriff Gerald Gilkey, along with deputies from the department were out searching for Howe, yesterday.
Gilkey said everything is being done to find the Winfield man, who may be suffering from dementia.
K-9 units, along with aircraft and four-wheelers have searched the area but so far, have had no luck.
“We covered a lot of ground yesterday and it’s probably the most thorough search I’ve seen in a long time,” said Gilkey. The sheriff said his mind is not at ease over the situation.
“There are way too many scenarios that are possible and it makes me uneasy.” he said.
Residents should be on the look-out for Howe and if spotted, should contact local law enforcement immediately.
