KSU to host Pre-Plant Wheat Meeting

       Area crop producers, chemical applicators and anyone with an interest in agronomy or wheat production in Cowley and Sumner counties are invited to attend the KSU Pre-Plant Wheat meeting on Monday, August 30, 2010, beginning at 6:00 p.m. with dinner at the Oxford High School, Oxford, KS. The meal is being provided by American AgCredit – Heartland Region.
       This meeting will be great opportunity for area wheat producers to discuss last-minute wheat planting options with area and state specialist. The meeting will focus on variety selection, marestail control, fungicide treatments, KSU Breeding Program, and public-private collaborations. KSU Research and Extension Specialist: Doug Shoup, Crops and Soils; James Shroyer, Crop Production; Allan Fritz, Wheat Breeding will be on hand to discuss these and other topics that may be of interest to producers.
       This meeting, sponsored by K-State Research and Extension - Cowley and Sumner Counties, is free of charge and open to the public. Reservations to assist with meal planning would be greatly appreciated; please email jazimmer.ksu.edu or call the Cowley County Extension Office at (620) 221-5450 or the Sumner County Extension Office at (620) 326-7477 with your RSVP by Wednesday, August 25.
