This is it, the Turning Pointe Dance Studio is performing its year-end, annual dance review tonight at Wellington High School.
The theme of the show is "This is it," centered around Michael Jackson tunes. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. at the high school auditorium, there is no cost for admission. The audience will see performers of all ages.
"We're going to have everybody from the 3-year-old babies up to our two graduating seniors..." said Ginger Wilson, owner and instructor of Turning Pointe.
There are 115 dancers that have or will take the stage for the studio as the end of the year finales take place.
Wilson said gymnastics had their review Wednesday night and that it went wonderfully. Turning Pointe has recreational classes along with competitive classes. All of the dancers have been working hard for this night.
"They've probably been working on them for three or four months," Wilson said. "The girls have been in class all year long."
There will be 44 dance numbers in tonight's review, Wilson said there will be about 10 Michael Jackson numbers.
"It's a wide variety," Wilson said. Every thing from ballet, tap, and jazz to hip-hop and solos will be preformed. "You name it, we're going to have it."
Wilson also said that the two seniors this year, Blair Aguilar and Erin Zoglmann, have been dancing at the studio for around 12 years.
"It's always a little bitter sweet," Wilson said. "It's sad to see them go, but it's exciting to see — they have bright futures ahead of them."
As far as tonight's review, Wilson said she is a little nervous.
"You never know what those little babies are going to do when they get up there," she said. "Some of those 3 year-olds might just stand up there and cry but that's what makes them cute."
Turning Pointe Dance Studio has a lot to look forward to even after the review is over. The first week in July, their Company Dancers will head to national competition in Branson, Mo. Turning Pointe won a few over all awards at regional contests last month.
"It always excites me this time of year," Wilson said. "It's just fun to see where the kids have started and how much they've progressed and how much they've learned by this point."
Also in July, the studio has summer lessons starting. Until then, Wilson and everyone involved with the Turning Pointe has tonight's review to look forward to. They want to show Wellington why “this is it.”
"It's always a fun time of year," Wilson said. "We've had a great year, we've had great kids, it’s going to be a fun night."
