COURSE RECORD The Yunker Wheat Whackers not only took home the trophy, but set a new course record at 44:25, beating the previous record by 55 seconds.

How it works  A mixture of running, biking, motorcross racing, horse racing and canoeing  will keep the 15 team members on each team on their toes, as each leg is completed and the next to be finished.
Each leg of the event is run by a single member of the team, with the exception of the two canoe legs, which has two members each.
Each person must complete their section of the race before handing off a colored railroad spike to the next teammate. As with any race, the first to cross the finish line after completing all the different legs is declared the winner.

IF YOU GO This year’s Great Race will be held starting at 5 p.m., Saturday, July 24th and will be held at Woods Park, Wellington. Be sure to bring a lawn chair to watch the festivities. Post-race activities will be held from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m., in the South Park following the race.
Pre-race meeting will be held at 3:15 p.m. with team captains and officials with teams, officials and video crews to assemble at 3:45 p.m. Teams will leave for their spot at 4:45 p.m.
