Gwendolyn Slack stepped down as the chief program technician at the Farm Service Agency on Monday after 40 years of working with the local office. When Slack first started with FSA, the office was located in the Masonic Lodge building on the corner of Washington and Lincoln in downtown Wellington. She first worked with the agency for 10 years, left to raise a family for 18 years, and then returned to work an additional 30 years for FSA. Slack told family and co-workers who gathered for her retirement party Monday she had seen a lot of farmers grow old over the years, but it had been a great ride.
