The scene at the middle school track and field Friday evening was sure to inspire hope. From the first lap walked by Cancer survivors at the Relay for Life, until the event ended in the early hours of Saturday morning — people were there to remember and help fight cancer.

“I think it went good, we aren’t to our goal yet as far as financially, we still have some ground to make up ... I think the funnest part of the night was the tacky-queen contest.” — Sumner County Relay for Life Co-chair Amber Hunt.
What they raised:
As of Monday the total raised by Sumner County for the American Cancer Society was $14,848.53. There are still fundraisers in the works to reach the $36,000 goal.
What’s next:
Teams are still collecting and raising money for this year’s Relay for Life through August. Donations can be taken to First National Bank. It’s never too early to start getting organized for next year and the Relay for Life needs committee members.
