Emcees announced for ‘Queen’ pageant

    Two Kansas celebrities will be hosting this year’s Junior Miss Wheat Queen pageant, Saturday.
    Sierra Scott and Shawn Wheat will be this year’s Emcee’s for the event. Scott is a returning Emcee from last year.
    This year’s competition has 19 contestants in four age groups from kindergarten through 12th grade. Each girl will be competing in talent, interview, scholastics, physical fitness, and poise. An exciting line-up of talent from the area will be presented, ranging from dance to piano, vocal, and a monologue.
    This year’s contestants for the Junior Miss Wheat Queen pageant are:
    K-2 Petite: Dominique Callaway, Olivia Dockery, Jailyn White, Josey Wolf. Last year’s winner was Elise LeGrand.
    3rd and 5th Little Miss: Brooke DeLashmit, Abby Lowe, Lauren Mason, Riley Nelson, Emma Rains, Ellie Shank. Last year’s winner was Tatum Witham.
    6th and 8th Miss Teen: Mallory Barker, Baylee Dobler, Heaven Rusk, Summer Rusk, Rebecca Wilson and Ally Harrelscrowell. Last year’s winner was Kattie Urban.
    9th and 12th Junior Miss: Amber Anderson, Sydney Kaufman, Ashlyn Lebeda, Hannah McComb. Last years winner was Elizabeth Mitchell.
    Scott currently directs, writes, produces and hosts her own TV show called “It’s All Good!” which airs on KSCW, Ch. 5, Sunday nights at 7:30 p.m. Scott has also been a contributing writer for “Women’s Focus Magazine” and has also hosted a weekly radio show on 105.3 the BUZZ.
    She recently completed a one-hour documentary on “Darfur” which premiered in Washington, DC and also traveled to the Philippines to do a documentary on a family whos’ been rebuilding a village there, one house at a time.
    Before coming back to Kansas to be near her family, Scott was the main anchor in Tampa, Fla., Tallahassee, Fla., Waco, Texas, and Joplin, Mo. She was also Miss Missouri in 1989 and hosted the live statewide broadcast of the 1992 Miss Texas Pageant before 1.2 million viewers.        Wheat was raised in Parsons, Kan., and started working for KOAM TV in Pittsburg, Kan., at the age of 17. After several years there, the become the youngest producer at the station ever. Wheat worked his way up to become FOX Kansas/My TV Wichita’s Promotion’s Coordinator.  Wheat is now co-hosting the “Get Up and Go Show” on KSOK Radio.
