On May 8, Sumner County joined with thousands of communities across the country in celebrating the loving, caring adults who are making a positive difference in the lives of children and youth in foster care. As part of National Foster Care Month, several Sumner County residents attended an Ice Cream Social hosted by Saint Francis Community Services to thank the 6 Saint Francis foster families in the county.
A local youth sang and played guitar for the evening’s entertainment. Foster families also received thank you cards and t-shirts from Saint Francis staff and Blossoms by Brigitte donated corsages and boutonnieres to highlight the foster parents in attendance.
Foster families make a unique difference in the lives of children in foster care and many more are needed to care for children in Sumner County. Anyone interested in learning how to become a licensed foster parent or to find out the numerous other ways to become involved should call Jen Bonnett at 316-299-9891 or visit the Saint Francis website at www.st-francis.org.
