Homecoming week finally culminated in the crowning of the 2018-2019 Duke of Wellington last Friday night during halftime of the boys varsity basketball game against Augusta. It was a packed gym as people came out to witness the coronation of the new duke.  Congratulations to Logan Jones on being crowned the new Duke!
Spirit week kicked off at Wellington schools with “Guess Who Day” on Monday, followed by “Candyland Day” on Tuesday, “Cranium-Nerd Day” on Wednesday, “Scrabble Day” on Thursday, and finishing on Friday with “Battleship Day.”
Following the game, there was the traditional Homecoming dance held in the WHS Commons area.
The other candidates were Hayden Baker, James Hinman, Ian King and Austin Sears. Their escorts were Lexi Saffell ( Fall 2017 Duchess), Abby Lowe, Jenna Rausch, Jill Wiley and Mekenna Adams. The child escorts were Hudson Ramirez and Stormie Jones,  Kynnedy Gill, and Zyler Jones.
Logan commented later that,“It was an experience full of amazing people and great memories I’ll never forget. I’m honored to be recognized by everyone at WHS and to be part of such an awesome group of guys.”
