Wellington Fire/EMS responded to a reported structure fire at 4:36 a.m. at 216 South F.  Upon arrival, they found a two-story apartment building with heavy smoke visible and one occupant standing on a balcony awaiting rescue.  The occupant was immediately brought down with a fire department ladder.  At the scene, staff, were made aware of a second structure on fire across the street at 217/219 West 4th.  Crews began simultaneously fighting both fires.  At 4:57 a.m., 911 dispatch advised of a third structure fire at 1621 West 8th.  At this time, automatic mutual aid was responding from Mayfield and began suppression operations at that address along with Fire District 9 and Mulvane Fire Departments.  Both the South F and West 8th structures suffered significant fire damage.  At one time, US 160 was closed at the west Wellington city limits due to supply hoses across the road. The apartment building at 217/219 West 4th had minimal fire damage.  All three fires are considered intentionally set and are under investigation.

At 1:00 p.m., both scenes were still secured by a police presence.  The property at 4th and F was still being tended to for hot spots by Wellington Fire.
