LAFAYETTE, Colo. — Ruth Iona Gantenbein, 97, passed away Feb. 28, 2018. Ruth was born July 14, 1920 in Carlton, Kan. She grew up in central Kansas and graduated from Abilene High School, and then attended nursing school.
Ruth married Marvin Gantenbein, July 24, 1940, and the family moved to Denver in 1942. They were married 60 years before Marvin passed away.
Ruth was a seamstress and loved to sew throughout her life. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star, a member of the Order of the Amaranth, and the Daughters of the Nile. Ruth loved her family and spending time with them, and was always involved in family get-togethers. Services were held March 8, 2018.
She is survived by: sons, Glenn Gantenbein (Carol), and Richard Gantenbein (Vickie); grandchildren, Scott (Gretchen), Mike, Richard (Cathie), Steven (Deedre) and Mark Gantenbein, and Julie Campbell (Gene), Jill Dean, Dawn Hug (Steve), and Michelle Bailey (Chad); 16 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Gantenbein.
Ruth was preceded in death by: husband, Marvin; sister, Mary King; brothers Jim, and Don Boyce; and brothers-in-law, Dean and Don Gantenbein.
