Ruth Annabelle Blodgett, 85, of Derby, formerly of Wellington, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Sunday, June 24, at Homestead of Derby. Ruth was a homemaker and was known as the “cake lady.”

 Ruth was born on February 8, 1933 in Ponca City, OK to Charles “Virgil” Stingley and Mary “Ethel” (Tapp) Stingley.

Ruth was a member of the First Christian Church in Wellington where through the years she served as Deacon and CWF Treasurer. She was also active in Girl Scouts for 26 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, cake baking and decorating, and arts and crafts.

 She married Frank L. Blodgett on July 25, 1958 in Ponca City, OK. They had celebrated 53 years of marriage before Frank passed away in 2012.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; brother, James Stingley; sister, Kathryn Barnard; and two grandsons, Jeremy Lynn and Joshua Ret Butler.

 Survivors include her three daughters, Kathleen Cochran of Derby, Carolyn Heidel of Livingston, TX, and Teresa Butler of Derby; grandchildren, Matthew Cochran and his wife Janey of Wichita, Krisha Blodgett of Livingston, TX, Betina Faught and her husband Kenny of Leavenworth, and Jessica Niswander and her husband and Adam of Derby; eight great grandchildren, Jasper, Josephine and Murdoc Cochran, Kathryn Annabelle Clemens, Amy, Elizabeth and Kade Faught, and Adelyn Niswander.

 Funeral Services will be held at the First Christian Church in Wellington on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor James Byers will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Memorials have been established with the First Christian Church in Wellington and Serenity Hospice in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
