Thomas R. "Tom" Lieurance, 68, of Anthony, passed on Tuesday, July 17, at Anthony Hospital District #6 in Anthony, following a nine month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was unwavering, brave, quiet and lived with dignity.
Tom was a good man whose warmth, wisdom, and humor have earned him the respect of his friends and family. He made this world a better place in which to live. Tom was the kind of man who made a positive difference with his family and all who knew him.
Tom was born the son of Dale C. and Elizabeth L. "Betty" (Brattin) Lieurance on Saturday, January 14, 1950 in Hardtner. Growing up, he worked on the family farm with his dad. Tom graduated from Kiowa High School in 1968 where he excelled in sports and joined the glee club and band. He attended Fort Hays State University for two years and graduated from Southwestern State College in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Following graduation, Tom moved to Virginia but eventually returned to Kansas to be closer to family. He worked at a pharmacy in Wichita, and later operated his own Pharmacy in Harper. Eventually, Tom went to work at the Dillon's Pharmacy in Wellington, and retired in 2012 following 26 years of employment. On October 11, 1991, Tom and Tanis L. McKee were united in marriage in Kiowa. Together they celebrated 26 years of marriage and blended together their families forever. Side by side with Tanis, they loved spending time on the family farm and took a goodhearted approach to their many projects. Following his retirement, Tom was happy golfing, fishing and hunting with his friends and family. He loved watching his children and grandchildren in their different activities. Papa Tom loved giving rides on the Polaris and making trips to the donut shop with his grandchildren. Everyone that knew Tom liked and respected him. He will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife Tanis Lieurance of Anthony; daughter, Tiffany Lieurance of Wichita; son, Heath Williams and his wife Lisa of O'Fallon, Missouri; son, Ryan Lieurance and his wife Kelli of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Teryn Bartholomew and her husband Adrian of Shawnee; daughter, Bobbie Clark and her husband Kelly of Anthony, grandchildren: Vivian Lieurance, Alyson Williams, Blake Williams, McKenzie Lieurance, Devon Lieurance, Landon Bartholomew, Lincoln Bartholomew, Ethan Francis, McKeegan Francis and Hope Clark; sister, Lee Humphrey of Wichita; brother, Kirk Lieurance of Kingman, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Betty Lieurance, his "in-laws", Robert and Margie McKee and a nephew, Joel Humphrey.
Per Tom's wishes, there are no services planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established in his loving memory to the Victory in the Valley or Heartland Hospice. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
