Nona Frances Schmitz, 93, of Wellington, died Wednesday, July 18, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington. .
Nona was born the daughter of Stephen Robert and Sarah Pearl (Dieffenderfer) Garrity on Friday, December 12, 1924 in Wellington.
On June 11, 1946, Nona and Henry Joseph Schmitz, Jr. were united in marriage in Andale. Together they celebrated 32 years of marriage before his passing in 1978. She later moved from Andale to her hometown of Wellington and has lived here since 1982. Nona was a parishioner of St. Anthony-St. Rose Catholic Church in Wellington, and was a faithful member of the Altar Society.
Survivors include son, Michael Schmitz (Carol) of Wichita; son, Jim Meyer (Claudia) of Wichita; daughter, Connie Bucy of Wichita; daughter, Victoria Lanier; brother, Robert Garrity (Betty); sister, Dorothy Stallbaumer along with ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.   
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters: Helen Meyer, Mary Buzzell, Josephine Oldridge and Pauline Wetta along with one brother, Stephen Garrity.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Vigil Service will begin at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22, at St. Anthony-St. Rose Catholic Church, Wellington.
Mass of Christian Burial for Nona will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 23, at St. Anthony-St. Rose Catholic Church, Wellington.
Interment will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens, Wellington.
A memorial fund has been established in her loving memory to the St. Anthony-St. Rose Catholic Church Altar Society. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
