The new ambulance debuted to the public Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. outside the Wellington City Building.  It was parked there for a half-hour before the start of the Wellington City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m.
City Manager Shane Shields explained that Wednesday morning that “replacement of an ambulance was budgeted for 2018.  The cost was $209,200, with $50,000 paid from the Ambulance & Firefighting fund and the remaining $159,200 financed over a 5-year period.”
Fire Department Chief Tim Hay also said, “The new ambulance is a 2018 Ford 450 pickup chassis with a Osage Industries box (patient compartment and equipment compartments).  It came with a Stryker power cot to prevent back injuries.  The new ambulance has a different graphic look.  There is more black graphics and paint than existing ambulances.  This ambulance replaced a 2008 unit as ambulance replacements are presently on a 10 year cycle.”
