The most recent reading from the National Weather Service has the Ninnescah River, near Belle Plaine at 26.8 feet as of 8:05 this morning.  At 23 feet, that is when the river begins to cover the road.  When asked as to the timetable of re-opening the highways near Belle Plaine, Deb Gruver, spokesperson for the Kansas Department of Transportation, responded this morning, “There’s really no way to know. We also will need to inspect the roadways before we reopen them.”
