Casey’s General Store in Oxford now has a drive-thru — but it wasn’t a planned renovation.
Police Chief Kirk Ives said around 6 p.m., Sunday afternoon, a car crashed into the store causing around $1,000 to $1,500 in damage to the front door area.
“Basically all that happened was a guy was filling up with gas at the gas pump...and the daughter asked the Dad if she could pull the vehicle forward because he was going to go in and pay and she hit the gas instead of the break and went in the west door,” Ives said.
No one was injured during the incident, he said. The girl driving the car was in her early teens and it is unknown whether or not she was licensed to operate the vehicle.
The crash is still under investigation at this time, Ives said. It is unknown at this time whether the girl or her father will be ticketed for the accident.
“On private property only certain things are allowed to be cited or wrote up for, especially when it comes to driving.” said Ives.
