TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A Kansas review board is preparing to evaluate proposals for a casino south of Wichita, even if it won't have any of the proposals in hand for at least two weeks.
The Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board decided Wednesday to hire eight consultants and firms to examine casino plans. Most have previously worked with the board.
Three groups have submitted applications to the Kansas Lottery to build and operate a casino for the lottery in Sumner County.
The lottery commission plans to meet Sept. 8 and could decide then how many proposals to send to the review board.
If lottery officials pass along only one plan, the review board will decide whether it moves forward. If the lottery sends more than one, the review board will pick an applicant.
