The suspect charged with kidnapping and raping a Viola convenience store clerk has been apprehended.
According to an electronic mail sent to local media late this morning, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department planned a news conference to discuss details related to the apprehension and arrest of Robert D. Abner late Wednesday night.
Abner, 39, of Wichita, has been charged with one count of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy and six counts of rape, according to the Sedgwick County District Court.
The press conference was set for 9:30 a.m. at the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s office.
