A Sumner County woman was startled awake, Thursday, after she claims a man tried to shoot her while she was lounging in a recliner.
Sumner County Sheriff Gerald Gilkey said a woman in the 1400 block off Morris Road called 911 at around 8:18 a.m., claiming a black male entered her home and then fired a shot from a shotgun towards her, breaking out a window next to her.
The woman then told deputies he left the residence and headed out on Highway K-42 in a white Pontiac Grand Am.
Gilkey said when deputies arrived, evidence of shots being fired in the home where recovered, and the homeowner had a shotgun at the scene. The suspected shooter was never found and nothing was missing from the home, the sheriff said.
