U.S. Rep. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., participated in a hearing on Thursday held by the House Agriculture Committee to review U.S. agricultural sales to Cuba.
The focus of the hearing was H.R. 4645, the Travel Reform and Export Enhancement Act of 2010, which Moran and Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, Congressman Collin Peterson, introduced on February 23, 2010.
The legislation would reform current trade regulations to allow U.S. cash sales of agricultural commodities to Cuba to be based on standard trading practices and allow U.S. citizens to travel to Cuba to sell their goods more competitively.
Testifying in support of H.R. 4645 were seven witnesses from agricultural organizations including American Farm Bureau Federation, National Farmers Union, U.S. Rice Producers Association and U.S.A. Rice Federation, National Association of Wheat Growers, National Milk Producers Federation, National Corn Growers Association, and American Soybean Association.
The witness for the National Association of Wheat Growers was its President, Jerry McReynolds, from Woodston, Kan.
