The Camaro came to rest on the east side of Broadway, approximately 100 feet north of 63rd Street South. The tractor-trailer, a farm service vehicle hauling 45,000 pounds of soybeans, came to a stop approximately a third mile north of 63rd Street South.
The Camaro caught fire after the drive, 19 year-old Colton Emerson was ejected from the vehicle. The passenger, 25 year-old Beau Blake, was pinned in the burning vehicle. Both victims, who were Haysville residents, died at the scene. Toxicology reports are pending.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was booked into the Sedgwick County Detention Facility for driving under the influence. Of the two passengers in the tractor-trailer, one was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with minor injuries and the other released at the scene.
