Applications for the 2010 LIEAP program will be accepted from January 19th through March 31st (5:00 p.m.).

LIEAP stands for “Kansas Low Income Energy Assistance Program” that provides an annual benefit to help qualifying households pay heating bills and or/cooling energy.

The gross income of all persons living at the address must be below the income shown below.

1 person----$1,174.00

2 persons---$1,579.00

3 persons -- $1,984.00

4 persons---$2,389.00

5 persons---$2,794.00

6 persons---$3,200.00

(for additional persons and amounts call our office)

If you have applied for LIEAP in years past, you should have automatically received an application in the mail or applications may be picked up at the Sumner County Health Department or you may call our office 620-326-2500 and we will mail an application to you. If you are 60 or older you may also call our office and set up an appointment time and we would be glad to help you fill one out.

Tax assistance will be available for senior citizens (and others) Tuesdays and Thursdays starting February 2nd to April 13th at the Wellington Senior Center from 1:00 -7:00. The Tax Assistance is being sponsored by the ARRP Foundation.

The American Cancer Society/William Newton Memorial Hospital is starting a support group for cancer patients, their family and caregivers. They will meet the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. starting March 2010. They will be meeting at the Physicians Pavilion at 1206 East Sixth Avenue, Winfield in the Lecture Room (Lower Level). Cheryl Pickering, LSCSW will be the Facilitator. They would like to invite anyone from Sumner County that might be interested.

Save This Date: April 9th, 2010 from 9:00a.m. to 2:00 p.m. there will be a Sumner County Senior Expo at the Raymond Frye building. More details will be coming in the near future.
