A Winfield woman’s attempts to commit suicide were thwarted by Sumner County Sheriff’s deputies after she tried to create an accident on US 160.
    Sumner County Sheriff Gerald Gilkey stated law enforcement officers were dispatched at 9:14 p.m. Monday night to the 1000 block of E. US 160 where a woman had parked her car in the roadway in the attempt to create an accident that would end her life.
    Her efforts failed however, as deputies took the woman into protective custody. She was later transferred to Sumner Regional Medical Center by Wellington EMS for a mental evaluation.
