The Southbound lanes of the Kansas Turnpike have been shut down after an accident has claimed the lives of three travelers.
Details are sketchy at this time, but Sumner County Sheriff's Department Capt. Mike Yoder says around 9 p.m., Wednesday, three people have died after a car and semi-truck collided near mile marker two in the southbound lanes of the Kansas Turnpike.
It is unknown where the victims were from and no names have been released at this time. Authorities are still on scene investigating the accident.
Traffic is being diverted at this time from the US 177 exit near South Haven. Travelers needing to continue southward are encouraged to use other routes such as US 81.
