A Wellington man was arrested this weekend after allegedly trying to drown his wife.
Wellington Police Chief Tracy Heath said shortly after midnight, early Saturday morning, Wellington Police officers were called to the Super C Convenience store parking lot, located at 1021 W. 8th. Sumner County Sheriff’s Deputy made the call after he was flagged down by a woman in the parking lot.
The woman reported a domestic disturbance between her and her husband, who in turned called local police officers.
Once officers had arrived, she explained she and husband Christofer Yoder had gotten into an altercation at their residence and that during the fight, he had attempted to drown her.
The victim said her husband had tried to do so by holding her head in some water, Heath said.
Officers went to the home where they took Yoder into custody without incident and booked him into the Sumner County jail, Heath said.
Along with charges of aggravated battery and criminal restraint, Yoder is also being charged with arson after his wife alleged he tried to light pillows on fire in the home.
“[The investigators] did recover some items just out within the area of the home that kind of collaborates that information,” said Heath.
Yoder is currently being held in the Sumner County Jail on $50,000 bond.
