Monte Jack Lowry, 83, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11. Monte was born Sept. 6, 1933 to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lowry in Garden City, Kan.
He served many years in the Kansas National Guard before he started his career at Dillion's Food Store as a store director. He worked in several different stores including the one in Wellington and throughout Kansas retiring after 38 years. Monte was an active member of the Lions Club and Knights of Columbus in Wellington for many years. After he retired, he moved into his new home on Lake Eufaula in Oklahoma.
Monte was devoted to his children and grandchildren, passing on his love for camping and fishing. He was also a very avid fly fisherman in the Lake City, Colo., area and loved taking his motorcycle up in to the Rocky Mountains. Monte was a big OU fan, "Boomer Sooner." He had a great sense of humor and an infectious smile. Those who knew him, loved him.
Monte was preceded in death by his father, Jack Lowry; mother, Catherine Lowry; brother, Sam Lowry; and two wives, Patricia Lowry and Joan Lowry.
He is survived by 10 children, Vicki Lowry, Rick and (wife) Janet Lowry, Randy Lowry and Linda Ruchotzke of Wellington, Dan and (wife) Debi Lowry of Dewar, Okla., Shawn and (wife)Valerie Lowry and Tonya Lowry of Tulsa, Okla., Roxanne and (husband) Robert of Cortland, N.Y., Cindy Blood and (husband) Mike of Topeka, and Harlan Bissel and (wife) Cindy of Las Vegas, Nevada, along with many grandchildren, one great grandchild, nieces and nephews.
