Harry Herbert Hunt, formerly of Wellington, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 at the Colorado State Veterans Home in Aurora, Colo., at the age of 95.

Harry was born the son of Herbert Henry and Frances (Wilkinson) Hunt on Tuesday, April 5, 1921 in Wellington. In 1942, Harry joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged after having earned a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars for his service in WWII.

On Sept. 20, 1943, Harry and Louise Holmes were united in marriage in Chanute, Kans. Harry and his family farmed for many years south of Wellington. Following his retirement, Harry and Louise moved to Prescott, Ariz. and lived there for many years. Together they celebrated 58 years of marriage before her passing in 2001.

Harry was married to Edna Thompson on May 3, 2003 in Prescott, Ariz. They were married for 9 years before her passing April 2012.

Harry recently moved to Colorado to be closer to his children.

Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Stringer of Alpharetta, Ga.; daughter Beverly Blankinship and her husband Paul of Silverthorne, Colo.; son, Donald Hunt of Mancos, Colo., along with eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouses, brother, and one grandson.

Graveside services for Harry will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 18, at Sumner Memorial Gardens in Wellington. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard.

A memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Harry Hunt to the Colorado State Veterans Home, 1919 Quentin St., Aurora, Colo. 80045. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
