Carolyn Rieckenberg, age 91, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Medicalodges in Oxford.
Carolyn (Martin) Rieckenberg was born on Jan. 29, 1926 in Mount Hope, Kans., to Dr. Raymond Martin and Blanche (Bray) Martin.
Carolyn married Walter Rieckenberg on Feb. 10, 1945 in Haven, Kans. They made their home in the Wellington area and farmed together until Walter passed away in 1973.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, working outdoors; and farming. She loved to play pranks and practical jokes on people. She enjoyed helping people by driving them to doctor appointments and volunteering her time to help out with small jobs around their homes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walt; daughter-in-law, Susan (Hainsworth) Rieckenberg; sister, Frances Bittle; and three brothers, Don, Dale, and Lyle Martin.
Survivors include her son, Ted Rieckenberg and his wife Marlene; considered son, Vic Thompson and his wife Susie all of Wellington; two granddaughters, Tracy Tatum and her husband George of Wellington and Kristy Soule and her husband Tim of Belle Plaine; grandson, Bryan Nolan and his wife Melissa of Belle Plaine; great grandchildren, Amanda and Michael Chapman, L. T. and Trianna Soule, Peyton Nolan and McKayla Wilson; great great granddaughter, Jordon Karlson; considered grandsons, Danny Thompson and his wife Jaime of Belle Plaine and Aaron Thompson of Wichita; and great grandchildren, Lance, Mariah and Nathan Thompson.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Carolyn on July 13, 2017 from 1–4 p.m.. at the Belle Plaine Community Center, 528 N. Merchant Street, Belle Plaine, KS.
Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Interim Hospice, 9920 E. Harry Street, Wichita, KS 67207 or contributions can be left at the funeral home.
