Robert Kaye McBride, 87, of Wellington passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017 at his home in Wellington.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, at the Shelley Family Funeral Home in Wellington. A memorial has been established for the Alcoholics Anonymous. Contributions can be left with the funeral home. For further information please visit www.shelleyfamilyfh.com.
Robert Kaye McBride was born on May 5, 1930 the son of Hubbard and Mary (Symmonds) McBride in Abilene, Texas. After High School he joined the United States Army serving his country from 1946 until 1950 in the Medical Corps. He worked for Cessna in 1951 as a sheet metal assembler thru the 80’s and later did aircraft modification pertaining to short field take off and landing. Kaye later went into the buy and sell business with Jack Whaley at the Curiosity Shop until 1999. He loved the high country of Colorado as well as fishing and hunting. He enjoyed flea markets. Loved the lady’s and working small jobs. He was a faithful member of Alcoholics Anonymous of 55 years.
Kaye is survived by his daughters: Vickie Church and husband Phil of Wellington, Mickey Mauck and husband Don of Denver, Colo., Krystal Sawyer and husband Ernie of Canyon City, Colo., and son, Chad McBride and his wife Melanie of Leadville, Colo.; sister Darlene Derington, of Kingsland, Texas;as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son, James McBride, daughter, Robin McBride, sister, Elizabeth Jones and brother, Frank McBride.
