Sandra Stumblingbear Mendia, of Wellington, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, at the age of 71.
Sandra was born the daughter of Francis Judson and Irene (Zotigh) Stumblingbear on Thursday, Oct. 4, 1945 in Lawton, Okla.
On Aug. 4, 1971, Sandra and Alfonso J.L. Mendia were united in marriage in Newkirk, Okla. Together they celebrated 46 years of marriage.
Sandra worked and retired after a 28 year career as a Laboratory Technician at Roche Medical Labs / LabCorp.
Survivors include her husband, Alfonso J.L. Mendia; son, Sean Roubideaux of Wellington; daughter, Raquel Marie Mendia; daughter, Jeronima Irene Mendia; son, Alfonso David Rene Lopez Mendia and his wife Mary all of Wellington; brother, Louie Stumblingbear of Wichita; sister, Emma May Stumblingbear of Wagner, S.D.; brother, Mark Lester Stumblingbear of Wichita; grandchildren: Francis Richard Jacob Jesus Mendia of Claremore, Okla., Loren Murray Mendia of Wichita, Shamika LaShea Mendia of Wichita; Cyrus Judson Charles Cunningham of Wellington, Seth LeClair of Wellington; Tommia Bell of Wellington, Ty LeClair of Ponca City, Okla.: great-grandchildren: Xander Mendia, Marcus Mendia, Matilda Mendia, Masiela Mendia, Ashkii Tsosie and Murray Mendia; two adopted-sisters: Mary Lasiter and Norma Haze.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Andy Stumblingbear; sister Francetta Segovia; sister, Mary Elizabeth "Polina" Stumblingbear; brother, Elton Stumblingbear; daughter, Sonja Roubideaux and grandson, Jace LeClair.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 18, 2017 at the Cornejo|Day Funeral Home, 1030 Mission Road, Wellington.
A memorial service will be held for Sandra at 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017 at the Wellington Freewill Baptist Church, 802 E. 16th Street, Wellington.
A second visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017 at the Red Buffalo Hall, 100 Kiowa Way, Carnegie, Okla., with the Wake Service beginning at 7 p.m. that evening.
Funeral services for Sandra will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 21, 2017 at the Red Buffalo Hall, Carnegie, Okla.
Interment will follow at Samone Cemetery in Carnegie, Okla.
A memorial fund has been established in her loving memory to the DaVita Dialysis Center. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
