Louise Helena Poovey, of Wellington, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, at the age of 97.

Louise was born the daughter of Gustave and Helena (Schmitz) Schultze on Wednesday, March 24, 1920, in Sacramento, Calif.

On April 18,1943, Louise and Orlo Poovey were united in marriage in Sacramento, California. Together they celebrated 58 years of marriage before his passing in 2001.

Survivors include her children: Deena Horst and her husband Gordon of Salina, Kan., Joanne Covington and her husband David of Rogers, Ark., John Poovey and his wife Judy of Loveland, Colo., Kirt Poovey and his wife Judy of Wichita, Ted Poovey and his wife Darice of Shawnee, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orlo Poovey, brothers: Albert, Henry, Paul, Carl and Herman Schultze and her sister, Anna Allen.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m to 8 p.m, Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017 with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral services for Louise will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 in the First Christian Church, Wellington.

Interment will follow at the Oxford Cemetery, Oxford.

A memorial fund has been established in her loving memory to the First Christian Church or the Wellington Food Bank. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
