Helen Furber DeMint-Cathey, 88, Wichita, departed her earthly home to be in Heaven on June 29, 2008.
    She was born Oct. 30, 1920 in rural Pawnee, Okla., to Simeon and Elsie Furber. She and her family moved to Tonkawa, Okla., in 1934 where she graduated from Tonkawa High School and later from Northern Oklahoma College. After pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Edmond and on to earn a Masters Degree at Oklahoma State, she taught school in Noble and Kay counties for many years. Later in life her career changed when she moved to Wichita to work in the Savings and Loan field until her retirement in 1989. Helen had many interesting volunteer jobs. Making and associating with many friends, traveling, enjoying nature and being with her family were the loves of her life.
    Preceeding her in death were her parents; a brother, E.R. Furber; sisters, Doris Strange and Jean Tullos; husbands, Wayne DeMint and Marshall Cathey.
    Survivors are sister, Neva Ferguson and her husband, Pat; sister-in-law, Jeffie Furber; son, Mark Furber; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters and scores of nieces and nephews.
    She attended First Baptist in Tonkawa and was a member of Asbury Church in Wichita. Christian friends were a joy and encouragement to her. Helen never missed an opportunity to have fun and spent a lifetime caring about others.
    We shall celebrate the life of our loving mother, sister and wonderful friend at Asbury Church, 2801 W. 15th on July 7, 2008 at 11 a.m.
